Estuaries
An estuary is where bodies of water connect to flow freely into the open sea.
Life is made of tenuous, flowing connections. Some are short and thin, like streams, while others roll and roar like the Mississippi. But in the end, we are all connected, all flowing, all silted into seawater.
Where are your connections made, and where do they flow? Is the open sea an ending or a beginning? Are you there for the journey, or is the convergence a means to an end?
The Faoileánach Journal would like to know the story of the estuaries in your life. The journal accepts poetry (up to three poems), fiction, nonfiction, and creative nonfiction (up to 1,500 words). Submissions will open October 1, 2025.
